2009 Winterfest was a grand success

We had a record number of out of town visitors who not only drove but also came by snowmobile.  Despite the bitter cold we had great participation in all of our events.  We again thank the community volunteers, businesses and sponsors who continually make this a valued winter event.

Thank you to our committee chairs which include Big G, Matt Cooley and friends - winter prep and the outhouse race, Greg Vieau and village partners for the snow blocks and children's slide.  Lisa Halleck and the women of the American Legion for the chili cookoff, Jen Smith and helpers at the poker walk.  Mackinaw Area Visitor's Bureau for the snow sculptor awards, Kathleen Barger for the kids games, Diane Fry for the Euchre Tournament and, the Chamber of Commerce coordinators and volunteers.

Letter to our members from Dan McDonald, Director of Sales & Marketing, Morning Star Publishing Co.

Dear Fellow Chamber Members,

Due to tough economic conditions, Morning Star Publishing Co made a very tough decision to discontinue publishing several shopping guides in northern Michigan.  They were as follows:  The Roscommon Co Star, Straits Area Star, Northern Star and Petoskey/Charlevoix Star.

In these markets, we are continuing our Preprint Distribution Sales package that gives all of our insert advertisers the same great delivery every Sunday. This is the same strong delivery system we have had through APS for 30+ years.  This audited delivery system has all the same great coverage and includes all the major key players including Spartan, Walmart, Kmart, Kohls, Tractor Supply ABC Warehouse and more!  Delivered direct to the home and business every single week.  We will also soon be adding an insert Mega Wrap for ROP advertising opportunities and many more exciting products.

In addition, the following products have not changed: Alma ,Alpena, Presque Isle, Antrim, Cadillac, Clare, Gladwin, Grand Traverse Insider, The Leader, the Morning Sun, Mt. Pleasant Buyers Guide, Northeastern Shopper North and South, Ogemaw/Oscoda, St. Johns Reminder and the Star Penny Stretcher.

We appreciate your business and look forward to our continued business partnership as we realign to make our company stronger to serve you better.
Sincerely,

Dan McDonald
