Chamber Annual Dinner Recap
The Oct 7 Annual Dinner at the Admiral's Table honored Dennis Vartanian. Dennis retired this year from Audie's Restaurant. Dennis was the Manager for 34 years and now hopes to step back for a year then see what comes his way. In his acceptance speech he noted that when Audrey Jaggi hired him, his first function was the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Audrey also explained that Dennis suggested the name Audies (the name he called her) when a name change was needed - it stuck.
Over 100 members and friends of the Chamber enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by owner Pam Gerlaszynski and staff. Every year she developes her menu around the nights' theme, this year it was "Harvest Moon". Pam scours cook books for special recipes used in the welcome beverage, hors d'oeuvres, salad and dessert. These accompany her famous coconut shrimp, prime rib and a special chicken dish.
Our tuxedo host was the charming Rob Most. The beautiful fall decor was designed by June Heilman with help from North Country Gardens. This year the white pumpkin and gourd centerpieces shimmered with a frost on the pumpkin with ribbons and fall leaves- very striking with the candles.
Angie Ross, former Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce was awarded a plaque, by Ray Roth, recognizing her 7 year contribution of time and talent to the Music in Mackinaw Program. She is stepping off the committee as she and husband Matt are expecting their first child in January.
The Chamber Board thanked the retiring Board of Directors members Sue Brandt, 2 terms and Judy Bennett, 1 term for their dedication.
Gene Cooley was re-elected to his second term. The Board consists of 7 Directors.
