Customer Service Seminar June 3
“Give ‘em the Pickle”. Presented by the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce and the MSU Extension. 9 am to 11 am at the Recreation Center meeting room. Cost is $8 per person, Chamber Member, owners free. $10 non member. Reduced price for businesses with 5 or more attending. Call 436-5574 or email info@mackinawchamber.com to register.

Trail Opening Celebration June 7
The Top of Michigan Trails Council and area Chambers of Commerce will be hosting the grand opening of the Gaylord-Cheboygan-Mackinaw Trail on National Trails Day at Marina Park in Indian River from 9 am to 3 pm. Simultaneous ribbon cuttings are held at 8:30 am in each city on the trail. Mackinaw City’s ribbon cutting will take place at the trail head next to the Baymont Inn. Come and support this 62 mile trail that is used year round by bicyclists, hikers and snowmobilers.

Bike Mac Shoreline Bike Tour June 14-15
The Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 16th annual Big Mac Shoreline Spring Scenic Bike Tour. Pristine woodlands, winding shorelines, sand dunes and fresh air are all part of the beauty of this bike tour which will be held on June 14-15, 2008.
Cyclist will enjoy up-north splendor while riding a 25, 50, 75 or 100 mile bike tour along the shores of Lake Michigan. The four routes work for the most novice & family groups to the tenured 100 mile cyclists and are clearly marked with a number of rest areas dotting the course. SAG safety wagons also circle the route to ensure safety for riders.
The Saturday tour begins and ends at the Mackinaw City High School. Participants depart between 7:00 and 9:30 AM depending on route taken. Registration fee of $18 ($23 after June 1) includes the tour and a hot dog roast from 11 am to 3 pm.
For the most breathtaking ride of the season, complete the weekend with a tour across the Mackinac Bridge. This ride begins bright and early 6:30 AM Sunday morning, fee $12.00 open to the first 400 riders who have participated in the Saturday tour. Some rules apply.

Mackinac State Historic Parks “Ambassador” program – Providing “free” assistance in preparing your staff to answer questions about Mackinac’s rich historic and natural resources. Take advantage of one or more of the following program features: complimentary admission to living history sites, onsite presentations and guided familiarization tours. Deni Mahlmeister, Ambassador chairman of the roadside highway cleanup committee thanks the following volunteers: Gene & Jo Cooley, Edgar & Audrey Jaggi, Donna Beach, Kathleen Barger, Betty Zazula, and Greg Teysen. Deni noted, the most exciting thing found was some Pageant Committee notes from 1990! It was interesting to recall some of those who have participated in the past.

The Mackinaw Area Visitor's Bureau press release will go out next week regarding the Labor Day Festival entitled 51/50. 51 year anniversay of the Mackinac Bridge and 50 years for the Mackinac Bridge Walk. Commorative coins are available for you to sell, they reatail for $4.00 each and are available for purchase at the Chamber of Commerce Depot Office. Mackinaw City is the site for the Son’s of the American Legion State Convention on June 6, 7, and 8th. The host hotel is the Northpointe Inn. The festivities are held at the Mackinaw City Recreation Center on Central Ave. The convention and Saturday evening sunset cruise on Arnold Line is open to the Sons of American Legion, American Legion, and auxiliary members. 50th Anniversary Celebration of Fort Mackinac, June 15th, the very day the fort opened 50 years ago and the same day as the famed Mackinac Island lilac festival grand parade.
