If you have 1/2 a day...
Explore history that comes alive every day. Colonial Michilimackinac, with its entrance under the Mackinac Bridge, and Historic Mill Creek, three miles south on US-23, provide visitors with an outstanding glimpse of what the area was like centuries ago.

If you have a full day or multiple days...
Visit Mackinac Island. Michigan’s crown jewel is worth a day trip for any Mackinaw visitor. A quick 15-20 minute trip on any of Mackinaw’s three ferry lines finds you in the heart of the Island’s downtown. From there you can walk, pedal a bike, or ride a carriage to a few of the various points of interest such as Fort Mackinac, Arch Rock and the Grand Hotel.

Day Trips from Mackinaw City
Carp Lake: There’s a local saying in Carp Lake, “You will find paradise in Carp Lake, but you won’t find any Carp in Paradise Lake.” Located a short drive south on US-31 is the Village of Carp Lake. Well known by families for generations, great fishing is to be had on Paradise Lake where there are many resorts along the lakeshore, some of which are open year round.

Fall and Winter Fun
Starting mid- to late-September the area comes alive with brilliant colors during the autumn color-tour season.
Come winter, the scene changes from colorful to pure white. The lakes freeze and it’s time to strap on snowshoes, cross country or downhill skis and explore the northland.
